Teachers
The Department regularly holds courses designed for primary and secondary school teachers. The courses are accredited within the next step education of pedagogical staff scheme of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. We are currently offering the following courses:
Current courses
Currently, we provide two on-line teachers' courses. Course study materials include field-based videos, study texts and slides with explanatory audiotracks.
Mineral identification
Using specific examples, we explain how to use mineralogical characteristics to identify our samples, we introduce important minerals that are commonly found in nature and highlight cases which some minerals may be confused for others. This course features PowerPoint files with an audio commentary.
Teaching geology in the field
In this course, we take you on field trips to introduce important geological phenomena at important localities. On video, our staff members point out what to look out for in the field and how structures and features can be interpreted in the rock record.
